The NCM-2150 is the main operator control panel. It provides frequency selection, channel control, RF gain adjustment, volume control, DSC functions and operating-mode selection. Its LCD and clearly marked keypad make it convenient for installation on a vessel’s bridge or radio console.
The NTD-2150 is the principal transmitting and receiving unit. It processes voice, DSC and data communications and delivers RF output to the antenna tuner. The transceiver is usually installed in a protected indoor location close to the bridge or radio room.
The antenna tuner automatically matches the connected MF/HF antenna to the selected operating frequency. Correct antenna tuning is essential for efficient transmission, reduced reflected power and dependable long-distance communication.
The JRC JSS-2150 offers several important operational benefits:
The operator selects the required channel or frequency through the NCM-2150 controller. Voice from the handset is transferred to the NTD-2150 transceiver, where it is converted into an MF/HF radio-frequency signal.
The signal then passes through the NFC-2150 antenna tuner. The tuner adjusts the antenna-matching network according to the selected frequency before transmitting the signal through the vessel’s MF/HF antenna.
During reception, incoming radio signals follow the reverse path and are converted into audible voice or data for the operator.
The JRC JSS-2150 can be used for:
Check the 24V DC supply, circuit breaker, fuse, power cable and connector terminals. Low voltage or an incorrect polarity connection can prevent normal operation.
Inspect the antenna, grounding system, feeder cable and antenna tuner. A damaged antenna cable or poor grounding can significantly reduce transmission performance.
Check the tuner control cable, RF cable and antenna connection. The antenna length and grounding arrangement must also be suitable for MF/HF operation.
Inspect the handset connector, volume setting, squelch condition and audio cable. Testing with a compatible handset can help identify the defective component.
Verify the GPS/NMEA input, communication settings and interface wiring. The vessel’s MMSI and other DSC information should only be configured by an authorized technician.
To maintain reliable operation:
The transceiver and antenna tuner may contain dangerous RF and high-voltage circuits. Internal inspection or repair should not be attempted while the equipment is energized.
Depending on stock, replacement or service support may be available for:
Customers should provide clear nameplate photographs, model numbers and details of the required component before ordering.
The JSS-2150 remains useful because of its dependable construction, straightforward controls and availability in many existing marine installations. Shipowners may choose a tested replacement unit to restore an installed system without immediately replacing all related equipment and cabling.
Used, refurbished and reconditioned units should always be inspected and function-tested before installation.
