What Is This Equipment?

The PL3700 is part of the Honeywell Marine (formerly Enraf Marine / Enraf Tanksystem) fixed tank gauging range. A pressure sensor is fitted at the bottom of the tank or on the tank side. It measures the hydrostatic pressure of the liquid, and the remote electronic box amplifies this signal and converts it into a 2-wire 4-20 mA output. The ship’s tank gauging, alarm or cargo/ballast control system then calculates the tank level and volume.

• Level reading fixed at 4 mA or 0: check loop supply, IS barrier, cable and sensor connection.
• Reading above 20 mA / over range: check sensor range against tank height and the zero/span setting.
• Drifting or jumping reading: check for moisture in the junction box, damaged cable, or a blocked sensor port.
• Wrong level after replacement: confirm sensor range and re-set zero and span in the remote electronic box and in the gauging system.
• Sensor signal check: with 5 VDC supply, sensor output should be about 0.5 V at zero pressure and rise towards 4.5 V at 500 mbar.

The PL3700 does not generate its own alarm codes. High/low level alarms and sensor fault alarms come from the connected tank gauging or alarm monitoring system – refer to that system’s documentation.
