The Pepperl+Fuchs KFD2-SOT2-Ex2 is a 2-channel K-System switch amplifier that safely transfers digital signals from NAMUR sensors or dry contacts in a hazardous area to the control system in the safe area. What Is This Equipment?

The KFD2-SOT2-Ex2 is an isolated intrinsic-safety barrier (switch amplifier) from the Pepperl+Fuchs K-System. Each of its two channels reads a NAMUR proximity sensor or a mechanical contact located in the Ex zone and switches a passive transistor output in the safe area. Galvanic isolation between input, output and supply protects the hazardous area. Line fault detection (lead breakage and short circuit) can be enabled or disabled with switch S3, and the output mode (normally open / normally closed) of each channel can be reversed with switches S1 and S2. The unit is DIN-rail mounted and can be powered through the Pepperl+Fuchs Power Rail or through terminals 14+ and 15-.

• No output switching: check the 24 V DC supply (terminals 14/15 or Power Rail) and the power LED.
• Fault LED on: check the field cable for lead breakage or short circuit; if a dry contact is used without resistor network, line fault detection may need to be disabled with S3.
