Uni-Safe BW-800 Bridge Navigational Watch Alarm System (BNWAS) | Bridge Watch Alarm Panel | Marine Bridge Watch System | SM MARINE SERVICE™
The Uni-Safe BW-800 Bridge Navigational Watch Alarm System (BNWAS) is a marine safety system developed to ensure that the Officer of the Watch (OOW) remains alert while navigating the vessel. Installed on thousands of commercial ships worldwide, the BW-800 continuously supervises bridge activity and automatically activates a sequence of alarms if no operator action is detected within the selected monitoring period.
The primary purpose of the BW-800 is to reduce the risk of accidents caused by fatigue, distraction, or incapacitation of the bridge watch officer. If the bridge officer fails to acknowledge the system within the preset time, the BNWAS initiates visual and audible alarms on the bridge and, if necessary, escalates the alarm to backup officers and crew accommodation.
The Uni-Safe BW-800 fully supports IMO SOLAS Chapter V requirements and is commonly integrated with bridge navigation equipment such as Radar, ECDIS, Autopilot, AIS, and Voyage Data Recorder (VDR).
SM MARINE SERVICE™ supplies new, used, and professionally reconditioned Uni-Safe BW-800 BNWAS units, including control panels, interface modules, PCB boards, power supplies, relay modules, spare parts, repair services, and worldwide technical support.

The BW-800 Bridge Watch Alarm System continuously monitors the activity of the bridge watch officer during navigation.
The officer must periodically acknowledge the system by pressing the RESET button or by automatic activity inputs from approved navigation equipment. If no acknowledgement is received before the timer expires, the system activates a visual bridge alarm, followed by progressively louder audible alarms and eventually notifies additional officers or crew members.
This escalation process ensures that another qualified person can quickly respond if the Officer of the Watch becomes unable to perform navigational duties.
The BW-800 is a simple yet highly effective safety system that significantly improves bridge resource management and navigational safety.
The Uni-Safe BW-800 offers several important operational features:
