What Is This Equipment?

The antenna unit is mounted on the radar mast. It rotates the S-band radiator, transmits the radar pulse from the magnetron and receives the echoes, which are amplified and sent by cable to the radar processor unit (RPU-013) and display. In the RSB-098 the transceiver RTR-080 (S-band, 30 kW) is installed inside the antenna chassis, which is why its FCC ID is shown on the nameplate. S-band radars are used on SOLAS ships for long-range detection and good performance in rain and sea clutter.
