The Kongsberg GLA-3105-RD-N1 is a closed radar tank gauge from the Kongsberg GLA-310/5 range, built for cargo tanks on LPG, LEG, ammonia and LNG gas carriers. The GLA-310/5 is a Kongsberg radar level gauge installed on top of a cargo tank. It sends a low-power X-band (10 GHz) frequency-modulated continuous wave (FMCW) signal down a 50 mm still pipe and calculates the liquid level from the reflected signal. A dual sweep cancels Doppler effects from cargo movement, and reference markers on the pipe flanges give continuous verification (AutroCAL). The gauge is intrinsically safe (Ex ia IIC T4 Ga) and is connected by RS485 to the GLK-300 signal processing unit, which feeds the ship's cargo monitoring system (for example K-Gauge). It can be used as a primary or secondary gauge or as an overfill protection sensor.
