What Is This Equipment?

The autopilot keeps the ship on its set course by sending steering commands to the steering gear. In the PT500 system the auto steering unit (PB343 for the adaptive PT500A type) calculates the rudder order from the gyro heading, ship speed and set course. Terminal boards connect the system to the steering gear, gyro, rudder feedback and alarms, while the repeater I/O board drives step-type heading repeaters. The alarm panel shows power and run status of steering systems No.1 and No.2 and gives AUTO FAIL, emergency and caution alarms.

The MPH219 E-Course Pilot is a YDK course-control unit, and the MPC430 TMC display unit shows the transmitting magnetic compass heading.
