The TECHCROSS PRU (Power Rectifier Unit) is the DC power source of the TECHCROSS Electro-Cleen™ System (ECS), one of the most widely installed electrolysis-based ballast water management systems in the world. The PRU converts the ship's AC supply into the high-current, low-voltage DC that the Electro-Chamber Unit (ECU) needs to disinfect ballast water by direct electrolysis.
The unit shown here is marked PRU-6, with Type PRU, Class LR, Serial No. PRU2107-1928 and manufacturing date 2022.1. SM MARINE SERVICE™ (https://www.smmarineservice.com/) supplies TECHCROSS ECS spare units such as the PRU to ship owners, ship managers and repair yards worldwide.
In the TECHCROSS ECS, ballast water passes through the ECU, where electrodes produce oxidants (mainly hypochlorite) directly from seawater. These electrodes need a large, controlled DC current, and that current comes from the PRU. Each ECU carries several PRU modules mounted on the chamber; the "PRU-6" label indicates the position of this module in the set.
TECHCROSS patent documents describe the rectifier modules as units attached directly to the electrolysis cell, connected by bus bars, cooled through a heat-sink plate, fitted with handles so they can slide out for replacement, and provided with an LED window that shows normal operation, malfunction or no power – exactly matching the handles and FAIL / RUN / POWER lamps seen on this unit.

| Cooling | Heat sink with fresh cooling water (FTS sensor monitors cooling water temperature) |
| Indicators | FAIL, RUN, POWER |
| Mounting | On the ECU (Electro-Chamber Unit) |
| Class | LR (as marked on this unit) |
| Serial / Mfg. date | PRU2107-1928 / 2022.1 |
TECHCROSS does not publish a public parts list for the PRU, and we have not found manufacturer PCB part numbers for the internal boards. The functional assemblies typically found in this type of rectifier module are listed below so that engineers can describe a failed part when requesting a quotation. All internal part numbers are Not verified – please send us photos of the board labels for exact matching.
Controls output current/voltage, receives the run command and reports status and alarms to the ECS controller. Part number: Not verified.
Handles data exchange with the ECS control system. Field reports of "PRU Communication Fail" mention burned transistors and diodes on this circuit. Part number: Not verified.
Power semiconductors and diodes mounted on the heat sink, producing the high DC current for the electrodes. Part number: Not verified.
Transfers heat to the cooling water; heat-sink temperature is monitored and triggers the "PRU Heatsink Temperature High" alarm. Part number: Not verified.
Front status lamps visible on the cover. Part number: Not verified.
A TECHCROSS control PCB marked TC002332 / BWMS-CON-VER10 is known on the market as a BWMS control board. Its exact location in the system (PRU or other unit) is Not verified.

Safety first: the PRU carries hazardous voltage and very high DC current. Isolate and lock out the ECS power at the PDE and wait before opening the cover, as stated on the unit's DANGER and WARNING labels. Work only by qualified engineers.

The TECHCROSS ECS is installed on a large number of ships to meet IMO and USCG ballast water rules. The PRU is a core unit: without a working rectifier the ECU cannot produce oxidant, and the vessel may not be able to ballast in compliance. Because the system stays in service for the life of the ship, replacement PRUs remain in steady demand.
What is a TECHCROSS PRU?
It is the Power Rectifier Unit of the TECHCROSS Electro-Cleen™ System, supplying DC current to the ECU electrodes.
What does PRU-6 mean?
It is the position label of this rectifier module on the ECU set.
What do the FAIL, RUN and POWER lamps show?
POWER shows supply present, RUN shows the rectifier is operating, and FAIL shows a fault.
Which ECS models use a PRU?
TECHCROSS ECS systems with ECU models such as ECU 150B, 300B, 450B, 600B and 1000B use PRU modules. Please confirm compatibility with your nameplate.
What is serial number PRU2107-1928?
It is the serial number on this unit's nameplate, manufactured 2022.1, class LR.
Do you have PCB part numbers for the PRU?
TECHCROSS does not publish them. Send us photos of the board labels and we will match the PCB.
Can you supply the PRU control PCB only?
Please send the PCB photo and number; we will check availability.
What is TC002332 / BWMS-CON-VER10?
It is a TECHCROSS BWMS control PCB code seen on the market; its exact unit is not verified.
What causes PRU Communication Fail?
Reported causes include poor cooling and damaged communication components or cables.
What causes PRU Heatsink Temperature High?
Low cooling water flow, high cooling water temperature or loose, overheated contacts.
Is this unit new or refurbished?
This listing is refurbished; condition and stock are subject to confirmation.
Do you ship worldwide?
Yes, SM MARINE SERVICE™ ships worldwide from Bangladesh and China.
