The GP-170 uses an advanced receiver and antenna system to provide stable vessel-position information. Its enhanced noise rejection helps reduce the effect of multipath interference.
Position information can be updated every 0.1 second. This provides smoother own-ship movement data for connected radar, AIS, ECDIS and autopilot equipment.
The 5.7-inch, 640 × 480-pixel colour LCD displays navigation data, course information, routes, waypoints, satellite status and integrity information.
Two GP-170 units can be connected for redundancy. Route, waypoint and other user data can be shared between units, supporting functional backup if one navigator becomes unavailable.
The front USB port can be used to import or export routes, menu settings and user data. Its LAN interface supports integration with compatible bridge equipment.
Depending on the system configuration, the GP-170 can be connected with compatible FURUNO antenna units such as:
The correct antenna model should be selected according to whether the installation requires GPS, GLONASS, combined GNSS or DGNSS operation.
The GP-170 can provide accurate position and navigation data to:
Check the GPS antenna, antenna cable, connector and antenna power supply. Ensure the antenna has a clear view of the sky.
Inspect the NMEA, serial or Ethernet connection. Verify the port settings, baud rate and selected output sentences.
Check the 12–24V DC power supply, fuse, circuit breaker, power connector and polarity.
Adjust the brilliance setting. If the LCD remains dark, faded or uneven, the backlight or display module may require inspection.
Check for physical damage, moisture or worn keypad contacts. Internal servicing should be performed by a qualified marine-electronics technician.
Inspect the antenna location for obstruction, interference or damaged cabling. Confirm the correct satellite and augmentation settings.
The GP-170 is popular because it combines stable position fixing with a clear operator interface and flexible bridge integration. It can be used for new installations or as a replacement for older FURUNO GPS navigators.
Its support for radar, AIS, ECDIS, autopilot and VDR connections makes it suitable as a central position sensor for commercial vessels.
Depending on availability, support can be provided for:
Customers should provide the equipment model, serial number, antenna type and clear photographs before ordering parts.
It is a professional GNSS navigator. Depending on its configuration, it can work with GPS, GLONASS or combined satellite-positioning functions.
Yes. It can provide position and navigation data to compatible ECDIS, radar, AIS, autopilot, VDR and other bridge equipment.

Yes. Two units can be connected to provide backup capability and share route or waypoint information.
It may be suitable as a replacement, but the antenna, mounting, power supply, cabling and data interfaces must be checked before installation.
Used, refurbished and reconditioned units may be available subject to stock and testing.
FURUNO GP-170 is a professional marine GNSS/GPS navigator with a 5.7-inch colour LCD, 10 Hz position update, dual-unit backup capability and bridge-system integration. Suitable for radar, AIS, ECDIS, autopilot and VDR applications on commercial vessels.
